The 3 counters
Is a neighborhood good or bad? How do you measure it? For me besides the usual, I rely on 3 counters, cutie count, gadget count, fashion count, and optional pet count~ It’s not really scientific, but I do believe it make sense~ Cutie count is obviously how many cuties are there in the neighborhood, I usually count it in the subway station, so for example the first 3 stops of L train would receive a full score on this counter!! the 4,5,6 train from midtown to downtown would also got good grade~ The few stops on the G line from greenpoint to williamsburg would also got good grade~ gadget count is a two part evaluation: first is the easiest one, how many ipod user are there, secondly, how many high class cellphone or smart devices are being used~ and once again first 3 stops of L train have the top scores! Man oh man everyone got an ipod on that train! and lots of PSP, blackberry, high end cell phone from Sony Ericsson, etc; Fashion count, that goes hand in hand with the cutie count, I’ll spot what kind of style and brand ppl are wearing, and obviously a good ‘hood would have ppl wearing top hip brands and all kind of fun styles~ As for the optional pet count, just observe the doggies on the street, if they are all dressed up by their owners, and if the dog itself looks clean and expensive, then that should be a good ‘hood~
Yeah, I know it’s totally superfluous and only apply in NYC~ but hey, i think it’s some good indicators~ another optional indicator I have would be what kind of books ppl are reading in the subway~
