Pixar > Disney
Disney’s buying Pixar, but to me, it looks like Pixar’s taking over Disney, at least their animation portion is now dominated by Pxiar’s people. When I first heard the news, I was a bit worried how it will affect the quality of Pixar’s movies, they have such a good track record that I am just afraid that Disney might screw it up. Today’s Disney is no longer the one that Walt built years ago, or not even the Disney during the 90s renaissance when Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Lion King ruled. It’s a studio that the creative juice just seems to dry up, new titles are just bad while aimless sequels tainted the good names of the older titles, I mean Pocahontas 3? Lion King 1/2?? do we really need that?? But now knowing that John Lasseter and Ed Catmull will take over the operation of the entire animation studio of Disney is much reassuring to me. Not to mention they are not even gonna move their office out of Pixar! That to me ensure little disruption on how Pixar operates and might even the spill over some of those creative energy of Pixar back to Disney too!! Imagine not only the cool 3-D heart-warming movies from Pixar, but also cool new 2-D animation that people actually interested in will surface again too!! I just can’t wait~
Another big thing is obvious about Steve Jobs will become the biggest individual shareholder of Disney and will become a board member as well. We all know how Steve triumph return to Apple and turn it around to rule digital music world. Now that he has a big interest invested in Disney….what will he do? the possibilities are infinite….
