J bookstores

It’s very fortunate that I work in a location that is full with Japanese in the ‘hood. So not only there are abundant good affordable Japanese food for lunch, there are also 3 Japanese bookstores around. Not that I know how to read Japanese, nor have any intention of learning. (I can barely handle two languages! and I am lazy!) I could, in the best case scenario, guess about the meaning of 6 characters in a 50 words paragraph. But in any case, I love going to these Japanese bookstores. The stationary and toy sections are always an awesome place to pick out unique gifts; the children books and manga section is where I can find picture books of Miyazaki films and Doraemon and such; The magazine section is where I can find tons of magazines about Hollywood and movie stars (b/c Japanese are obsessed with American films), I can’t read the interviews but the photos are all exclusive to Japanese media, so it’s worth reading. Then there are magazines devoted to Macs, the Japanese are also obsessed with Apple, which obviously makes me very happy; Then there are these Japanese fashion magazines that I could learn so much to integrate to my style, plus, let’s face it, those guy models are adorable! Because of these bookstores, I am so entertained at my lunch hour that I never really want to go back to work~
