Is it just me or the city just finally realize people should be the priority, not cars? With more transit options planned out in the near future (Second Ave Subway, LIRR-Grand Central Connection, BRT) , correcting the confusing traffic black spots (Times Square Bow-tie, Brooklyn Grand Army Plaza) and giving back space to the pedestrian (Astor Place, 34th Street/Herald Square).
