The Subway has its own….what?

8 January 2007 186 views No Comment

News report that the city will distribute millions of condoms – with different color representing the different subway lines of NYC. This is believe to be the first city to have its own signature municipal condoms. Upon learning about this news, my question is who come up with this bizarre idea??? One could imagine what the meeting about this was like:

Advisor #1: We need to come up with an unique idea to market our free condom program. to distinguish it from all other previous effort. Give it an edge, give it…a NYC flavor! Yes that is it, a NYC flavor! who got any ideas?
Advisor #2: How about we put NYC landmarks on them? We can have Empire State Building condom, Chrysler Building condom, the Trump Tower condom, or even Guggenheim Museum condom!
Advisor #1: Guggenheim!?!? Empire State, Chrysler Building, they make sense, because they look like, you know, but Guggenheim?? you know what it looks like right? You do know what it looks like right??
Advisor #3: How about we put Broadway shows on them? we can promote the shows at the same time, good for tourism!
Advisor #2: So we will have Mamma Mia! condom, Avenue Q condom, Hairspray condom, Lion King condom, and Mary Poppins condom?? I don’t think Disney will like it….
Advisor #1: True, what we put on to these condom, it need to be something that won’t anger the corporate companies. Now what about using our neighborhood names? We can have Soho condom, Chinatown condom, Hell’s Kitchen condom, Williamsburg condom, Flushing condom, Little Italy condom!
Advisor #2: We might run into resident objection from the neighborhoods….
Advisor #3: How about our Subway system?
Advisor #1,2: GREAT IDEA!! different line, different colors!!! let’s present this to the mayor!!
…………………

There’s also this amusing post described the different condom user styles based on the subway lines. I have a lot of fun reading about the G line “you have to wait a long time for the train to come, and when it does, it’s usually a short one.” and the 7 line “this one’s quick and dirty.” I wonder what the ever hip L line would be~ hehe~
