I was going home after lunch and saw a whole lot of strange people with many different costumes walking on the street. The only thing in common was that they all have a supermarket shopping cart! It’s not halloween, so what’s going on?? Apparently there’s a shopping cart race going on!!! I never heard of such a strange event! So I dig up the sites on the web to find out more. There are even pictures to prove it. But the most amusing thing is actually the name of this event – Idiotarod!!! According to Wikipedia, Idiotarod is a shopping cart race in which five “idiots” tie themselves to a shopping cart and race on the street. Of all the races running through the Greenpoint neighborhood, this is by far, the strangest!

Update: Within an hour after I saw the strange people, I heard huge noise coming from outside of my apartment. I look down the window and saw the entire race gather outside!!!! You got McDonald people, Ghostbuster, Irish Lucky Charm, Satan, Giant Penis, Roman Soldier, Cows, Transformers, anything you can think of!! Best thing is some of them are fighting and start throwing things! Wow, it’s too cold for me to go down there to take pic, so I just took one out the window, but I am sure I can find tons of them online the next day…I’ll post more when I found them.

Update: Here’s a detail report of this chaotic event. (and believe it was chaotic since they did not get a permit from NYPD and There’s police chasing them the whole time!)
