Book Release Party in Greenpoint

20 July 2007 186 views 2 Comments

My original plan of getting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow was just waking up on Saturday morning and head to Barnes and Nobles at Union Square to buy it. But in the last week before the release, I just realized that the little local bookstore Word that opened up a couple months ago around the corner from my apartment would probably have the book since it’s kind of a children’s bookstore~ So my plan revised to just heading downstairs Saturday morning when I wake up.

My plan revised yet again 2 hours before midnight when my roommate inform me about the adults-only release party in Word! I did some digging and find the blog of the owner of the store. She seems charming and it seems like such a fun event – especially they are serving “magical punch” and alcohol~ So I end up checking it out with my roommate~ and let me tell you, that little store has over 200 people (the raffles kinda let us know estimate how many people are there! sadly i did not get any prizes). All of them 20something or early 30 something, i couldn’t believe there’s this much hip crowd here! It was totally awesome. There are many cute guys too! (see pic) Where are they from? do they all live in Greenpoint? Maybe I underestimated Greenpoint~ It might have as many youngsters living here as in Williamsburg~ The bookstore have a trivia contest in which people were divided into 4 houses. Everyone was so excited and shout out answers and just random people all playing this game about Harry Potter~ That was fun!

Anyway, enough blogging~ I got my book at midnight! yay! now I need to read~ later people! :p

WORD is not a children’s bookstore. But glad you had a fun time at the party.

    I know it’s not, that’s why I said it’s kind of a children bookstore~ :)
It’s just give out that impression with a large section of children’s books.
