Even newer subway car on the L

25 July 2007 451 views 2 Comments

Both of my rides today on the L I was given a treat of new trains and iPhone~ Instead of the regular pretty new R143 car that the majority of L line is using, I was on the newest R160 car that was suppose to be replace the old train of the N and A line! I was so excited and looking at the new features. The most notable different between the R160 and the R143 is the LED map display. The R143 car already uses a decent plastic card display that has a set route and stations on them with lights light up accordingly. The new LED display displays the next 10 stations and 5 further stations. It would update itself whenever it reaches a new stop. It’s way more useful with the instant update if the train had to skip a stop or a sudden route or line change. There was too many people so I didn’t take any pictures, but I grab one from the web to show you here. (showing the N line instead) Not sure why these cars are on the L today since from what I can gather they are intended for N and Q trains only… maybe a trial run? short-time substitute? i dunno, i hope they are going to permanently stay with the L~

Aside from the new subway car that made me all excited, both rides I spotted 2 iphones, so a total of 4~ All own by hottie! Oh man, that’s always a good combination~ cute men and pretty Apple gadget. I was standing next to the guy and was totally drooling over the phone~ I am not sure how long I can resist the urge to buy one.

Here’s some useless statistics:
Total number of iPhone I spotted today on the L train: 4
Total number of iPod I spotted today on the L train: 21
Total number of suspected mac laptops on the L train (in name brand laptop bag that are mostly associated with mac): 2
Total number of people reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows on the L train: 6

I rided on this type of new train too on the N track! They are so clean and informational! I wish we can have this on the 7!

Yeah, i doubt they will replace the 7 line trains anytime soon. They have to replace the oldest subway cars first, which are the ones on Yellow and Blue lines.
