KT Tunstall Concert

I went to KT Tunstall’s concert with Scotty last night. It was held at the recently opened venue Highline Ballroom. I have only been to a handful of concerts so my only comparison is to the Webster Hall and Lincoln Center. Anyway, Compare to the maze of staircases and hallways of Webster Hall, Highline Ballroom is a lot smaller and intimate. You are much closer to the stage even if you come late. The AC was blasting in this nice space so for a sizzling hot day it was most welcomed. I forgot my camera, which is great because I could concentrate on just enjoying the music. Scotty was my trusted cameraman for the night.

Now the crowd is quite diverse, it’s not overwhelmingly hipster crowd or teenage girl crowd or your regular long island spoiled white kid crowd. I notice something funny while we were in the middle of the room waiting for the concert to start – I notice there’s a pattern of people that stands near us. First there’s a couple standing in front of us. Interracial couple. More particularly, Asian girl and a White guy. Cute! but then again there’s another pair standing before them! and then there’s another pair next to them! Soon afterward there’s another pair standing behind us. I point it out to Scotty and told him this is the Asian/White pair zone and we are standing in the right place~ lol~

Concert usually starts late, but luckily this time there’s no opening act so the concert starts promptly at 9. KT was awesome, so is her super hot guitarist. Every-time I turn around Scotty was taking picture of him instead of KT~ hehe~ I always love singer-songwriter with their guitar. No matter if it’s a guy or a girl, there’s just something about the guitar that make them so damn sexy. Being British multiply the appeal even more.

Live shows like this always mean you can see a collection of guitars. KT pretty much change and rotate guitars every single songs, my favorite is the sparking one, it looks so nice in the dark with the purple-ish spotlight~ As for her hot guitarist, one of the guitar he used was an awesome looking red and white one, with his unbutton black shirt and the white undershirt showing, damn it was hot~ Most of the songs KT sang in the show was from her last album Eye to the Telescope, but there were songs from her acoustic album as well. My favorite is Other Side of the World for obvious reason. She also sang 3? songs from the upcoming album, all of them are pretty amazing and catchy, I especially like the one that she said will be the first single. I can’t wait for the next album!!

Overall, another awesome experience! the only complain was my neck hurts a little afterward because I am not tall enough, and during encore there was this obnoxious woman keep on pushing behind me. I was gonna turn back and yell “Fatty! dance in your own space!” (She’s not fat, but I know if I call her that she will be upset for the rest of the month! ha) But I love the song and didn’t want to ruin the experience by yelling at someone.

Thanks for Scotty for all the pics. :) More pics in his Flickr account.
