Live Free or Die Hard

Live Free or Die Hard is pretty bad ass! I was never a big fans of plain old action movies, they kinda bored me. That is why I can never get excited about a new Jackie Chan or Jet Li movie at all. Without some sci-fi/fantasy adventure elements, just some kung fu fighting and big explosions just doesn’t cut it for me. But for this particular movie, I was rather entertained. And nope, it’s not because the mac guy Justin Long is there for the whole ride (of course it helps a lot!) but Bruce Willis as a tough guy that crack jokes still works very well. He did it in the original Die Hard trilogy (well, curse a whole lot more back then), he did it in comedies too from The Whole Nine Yards to a guest spot on Friends. And as a comeback action hero – I bet he’s way more believable than any other including Indiana Jones – Harrison Ford is 65, do you really believe he can fight like back in the old days? (and don’t me make mention Arnold and Rocky…)

Other cast in the film includes Timothy Olyphant, Maggie Q and Kevin Smith. I like Tim Olyphant since he was in that sappy gay comedy the Broken Heart Club, so I am glad that he’s now more recognizable with this movie and the upcoming Hitman. As for Maggie Q, is she now the goto actress whenever a movie needed a kung fu fighting Asian chick? Don’t get me started with Kevin Smith though – this out of work director is only good when he’s Silent Bob, other than that, I always find him a little bit annoying~

Anyhow, a good summer flick~ recommended.
