The two hours of today that I wasn’t reading

I head down to Williamsburg with my roommate today for brunch. We went to a lovely Italian Restaurant called Aurora. It’s hidden on Grand Street far away from the busy main area of Williamsburg. A bit of a walk, but it’s such a nice space, dark wood and brick are the main theme inside, in addition there is a nice outside patio with a dark brown tent with transparent ceiling. Food is great, i can’t wait to try out a dinner over there.
Afterward we walked over to the Grand Ferry Park at the waterfront. While it is much smaller than the East River State Park that was opened recently, this park has an unique charm and history behind it. It is named after the Grand Street Ferry, which carried passengers across the river in the 19th century. The ferry ceased to operate years after the opening of the Williamsburg Bridge. The park has huge trees that provide shade, in sharp contrast to the treeless East River State Park. The most incredible sight in the park is the giant red brick smokestack with a circular pattern of cobblestones on the ground. It was part of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals’ plant back in the days. It has an awesome view of the Williamsburg bridge on one side. With some unique history behind it and another amazing view of the river and the bridge, it’s a neat relaxing place for reading a good book and enjoying your ipod~
