Thoughts on iPod Classic

The truth is I am not used to the click wheel anymore after using the iPhone exclusively as my media player for the past few months. Not to mention the click wheel of the iPod Classic is a bit more stiff compared to my old iPod. It just doesn’t feel natural and easy as it used to be. Then there’s the new and “improved” interface with a split screen where the album art is flowing when you are navigating the menu – it’s true that it spice up the menu, but I dunno why, I swear that the embarrassing guilty pleasure type of albums that I wouldn’t want people know that I am listening to seems to be flowing right there all the time! As for the Coverflow interface – I rarely used it on my iPhone, here in iPod Classic it is an awkward fit that is close to useless to me. I do appreciated that more information is given in the menu, such as in the playlist instead of just the name of the songs, you got the artist name in smaller font underneath each songs as well. Other useful info showed up here and there. Album art is on the side when you browse, it’s a nice upgrade from the previous iPods except that the iPhone/iPod Touch interface is much better.

The bottom line is, where can you find a media player that can hold all your music and with tons of room to spare? That’s the thing I love about it! I am obsessed with the idea of having all my music in the pocket, the last few months with only the iPhone I really missed having everything with me all the time. With 160GB, I have my entire music collection and space for many many full seasons of TV shows that I like – if I am stuck in one of the subway ride for ages, it’s the best entertainment you can have.
