Staircase to nowhere

I take the G train up to Long Island City everyday to transfer to the 7 train to Grand Central. The transfer is an out-of-system metrocard transfer from the underground Court Square Station to the elevated 45th Rd – Court House Square Station above ground. It is not as convenient as other regular transfer where you never have to walk out the turnstile, but at least it isn’t too far away and it is still a transfer. From the look of things, this inconvenient and still acceptable transfer walk is coming to an end – and it’s not good at all!!!

During the summer, one of the three staircase of the elevated station was closed off and torn down! It made the morning commute horrible because thousands of people that going from 7 to G, and the thousands of people that going from G to 7 are all crowded using one single staircase only! I patiently hoping it is just temporary and that maybe they are fixing that staircase. This morning I notice tons of signs are posted both at the underground station and the elevated station:

….and they are not referring to the staircase that was torn down, they are talking about the one that’s left, the one that everyone depends on during rush hour!!!! Are you kidding me with this???? what does it mean by permanently taken out of service?? Not only that, upon closer examination, there are two set of signs, the signs at the underground station is actually referring to this entire wing of the entrance, which might mean you can’t even get to the surface at this end after November 10!!!!! That means when I get out of the G train, I will have to walk underground almost to the E/V 23rd Street – Ely Ave station part of the complex to get to the surface via the Citigroup Building, then walk back one block to 45th road and then cross to the other side of the 23rd Street to get to the only surviving staircase of the elevated station!!!!!

Can someone at MTA explains what the hell is going on???? (if it’s a plan to connect the underground and above ground stations for real – at least tell us that!!! that way we will at least have hope and wouldn’t be this piss off!!!! and if that’s not the case….well, i seriously dunno what to say!)
