Demons

I definitely have a thing for British TV shows, maybe it’s the attractive leads or simply the accent, or the fact that it’s British which remind me of the colonial days of Hong Kong. I just can’t get enough of it. From Doctor Who to Torchwood, From Skins to Britannia High, From Primeval to IT Crowd and now my latest discovery – Demons.

Demons is about a teenager named Luke who was told that he is the descendant of Van Helsing and need to follow his destiny to protect human by slaying demons. The show has the same premise as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A teenager was told by an older authortiy figure that he/she has a destiny to protect the world from demons, get helps from friends, do research in a library with ancient texts and still need to do all teenage stuff plus need to keep it a secret from the mother who has no clue about what exact is going on.   It might have potential if it has a story arc that could be interesting, but so far it’s a monster of the week story every episodes.  It’s a bit bored because it’s nothing we haven’t seen from all the fantasy series over the years. Given how few episodes a British show season has (6 ep for this show!) It might never develop a story arc.  However, I still keep on watching it because the lead is pretty~ Christian Cooke as Luke Rutherford is just damn hot! I noticed the actor first when he was a minor character in a Doctor Who episode as a UNIT soldier.  So I am happy when I watch this show and recognize him!  He is obviously a big reason for me to watch the show, but of course, another reason is that I just can’t get enough of sci-fi/fantasy shows anyway~ :)
