North 5th Street Pier

11 January 2009 245 views No Comment

On an icy Sunday, I went to the newly built N5th Street Pier on the Williamsburg waterfront.  There’s a bit of mystery surrounding this place because first of all it’s well-hidden, and it’s limited access, and it’s not well publicized despite the fact that it is a public-access pier!  It is located behind the still constructing Northern Piers condos, and it is only open for public during weekends.  as you can imagine, there’s hardly any people there, it’s pretty much just a person or two.  There isn’t much to see besides the view, but given the icy weather, no one want to loitering around.  I imagine it will be a nice place to be when the weather is nicer and when it is not hidden behind an active construction site!  The potential is there though, once Northern Piers condos are done, plus the next door EDGE condo building in full force, and that other converted warehouse as condo also working on the other side. It’s only a matter of time before the entire waterfront is linked up!
