Synergy

iphotoWhen a new feature or function showed up in one of the Apple product, it usually would creep into other Apple products too. Example: Coverflow. It first showed up as a new feature in iTunes after Apple purchased the third party developer. Soon afterward it showed up as a major wow factor on the iPhone, then iPod Touch , It also become a view in Finder of Leopard. It also showed up in iPod Classic and Nano as well. Another example is Multitouch on the iPhone, which as we know showed up on the Macbook Pro and Macbook trackpads later on. There are countless examples that illustrated while the word synergy was often used as a mask for cost-saving and cost-cutting or just a simple slogan in other companies, Apple took it by heart and actually use it to its advantage.

Now when Apple announced the new iLife ’09. My first thought was will tagging and connection with Facebook and Flickr appeared in places other than iPhoto? We already witness a similar example with Youtube on iPhone, it showed up on AppleTV later and now iWeb ’09. My hope is that Apple will unitize and integrate more features with Web 2.0 sites now that they dip their toes in the pool. My wish list includes tagging in iTunes, iTunes integration with Last.fm and facebook without plugin, an official Flickr app from Flickr or Apple integrate Flickr on the Photo app in iPhone. I love Last.fm with all the charts and stats, but it’s not real time and the scrobbing for iPod and iPhone is still troublesome. If only Apple supports it natively and apply those pretty chart and graph from iWork!  That would probably be just my wishful thinking for now~
