The newly announced Doctor is nothing like what people speculated. He’s not a woman, he’s not black, he’s not a well-known actor, his name didn’t show up in rumors. And yet here we go we have the youngest Doctor in the entire history of the show. The young age is definitely caught people by surprise and also what people are focusing on right now. To me my thought was the Doctor has the same condition as Benjamin Button! (just look at how old were the first 8 Doctors!) and then it get younger by each one, 9th Chris Eccleston is like what, late 40s?, 10th David Tennant is like late 30s?, and now the 11th Matt Smith is 26!! Timelord has 13 lives, so I guess I can now predict that the 12th Doctor will be like 16 years old and the last Doctor will be 9 years old~~~ LOL

Now the question is, why choose someone this young? I think it’s a general direction of our entertainment industry to update all classic icons for the newer generation. There’s younger Bond, younger Batman, younger Superman, younger Star Trek crews, why not a younger Doctor? Not to mention what a younger and better looking face can do to the show – just look at David Tennant and how he lifted the show into the highest rating of the show’s history! We, well, at least us in the US know nothing about this new Doctor. The few shows he was starring in didn’t make it across the Atlantic, or even in torrent~ So it’s remain to be seen how he can fit in the role. But I am sure they are not gonna cast someone if he can’t handle the job. Doctor Who is one of BBC’s biggest show, they are not gonna trash their cash cow. It’s just it will be a long while until we can see the new Doctor in action – 2010!! In the mean time I’ll be eagerly looking forward to David Tennant’s last 4 Doctor Who performances!!
