Dollhouse

dollhouseLike a typical Joss Whedon show, the first episode is not gonna blown you away.  It’s usually until a few episodes in until you see the full potential of Joss’ creation.  Dollhouse is exactly like that.  All the excitement I got was the anticipation of finally having another Joss show on the air and seeing Eliza Dushku.  The first episode has your typical setting up the premise, and then you meet the characters. You have your heroine Echo, then you got the fatherly figure, a handler named Boyd.  Then you have your tech expert, your geek and gadget ready person Topher.  Of course the always mysterious and usually on the opposite side handsome lead – Paul. The character map definitely looks similar to Buffy’s, but it is also different.

First of all Echo is a Doll, think of her as a Buffybot that needs to be program and her memory will get erase after each mission.  Boyd and Topher are not her friends, they do seems to care for her, but in NO way like Giles or Willow care for Buffy. Paul is an FBI agent to crack down the Dollhouse, and he’s nowhere near.  It will be interesting to see how he get close and maybe meet Echo – although no matter how many time they met, she won’t remember a thing afterward.  There is also the ice cold big boss of Dollhouse – Adelle DeWitt and the equally cold Chief Security Officer Laurence Dominic.  Not sure where are their stand in the character map just yet.

The most interesting character is Doctor Claire Saunders, played by non other than our beloved Fred, Amy Acker.  Here she is more of Illyria then Fred.  Actually she’s a bit creepy to me.  She is very mysterious and all the scars on her face just invited all the questions. The ending also give us quite some questions, like who is that and why is he naked? who did he killed and is that Echo (before she’s Echo)’s house?  One episode is not enough! Can’t wait for the next one!
