Walking Down…

22 February 2009 196 views No Comment

To follow my own advice, I spent my free time today trying out the newly updated Pixelmator 1.4 with a blurry picture of mine that was on its way to the trash bin.  What come out of it is a series of artwork that I called “Walking Down…”, It’s nothing professional of course, but I do like the results.  Not only I gave new life to a picture that I was going to delete, I was also able to walk down the streets of New York without leaving my apartment!  The one I like the most is Kenmare, somehow the graffiti on the wall matches the style and the imagery.  The effect wasn’t difficult, mostly just multiple layers and a few filters. Pixelmator is no Photoshop, but I found that I use it a lot more, with the exception of manipulating text.  It’s a great mac only application that is fast, stylish, and cost very little compared to the outrageous Photoshop price.

Born out of this little fun project is a new header for the blog named “Catwalk,” the peach pink color provides a nice contrast to the rest of the headers.  The theme of the header was  originally envisioned as fashion, but art is never an exact science.  What came out of it is still very New York, but with a stylish figure walking down the broad-walk of the pier, I believe it is still titled appropriately.
