Anthropodino

When I first saw the picture of Ernesto Neto’s anthropodino art installation, I thought it’s futuristic and beautiful.  But I didn’t have a chance to see it for myself until now.  Maybe it’s the end of the exhibit and then too many people have been tampering it, it just doesn’t look as good up close and personal!  The scale of this thing is still huge,, but maybe because the color was more subtle than I thought, it just mostly appeared as a giant white drip cloth than anything else.  Plus the presents of children all over is a bit of a distraction as well.

Luckily the place of this exhibit is in the historical Park Ave Armory which dated back to 1877.  The central hall where the exhibit was held was like a gigantic high school gym, while the rest of the armory are individual rooms that has impressive detailed interiors from the 19th century.  It’s fascinating to see such an old place.  It’s not fully restored nor is it in good conditions, many places you can see the holes in the ceilings and walls.  I hope my admission ticket can help this old building somehow.
