iPhone Art

I have always envy people that are artistic and creative.  I always thought people that can play instruments, compose music, draw and paint paintings are amazing and wish that I have the same talent.  Unfortunately, I turn out to be no good at anything creative.  I can’t even draw something decent, let alone playing instrument or anything like that.  So when I heard of last week’s New Yorker magazine’s cover was painted entirely on the iPhone I was even more jealous.  I mean someone uses my favorite gadget to paint? that’s incredible! Now of course I know that if you don’t have artistic talent to begin with, no matter how fantastic a tool is, it’s not gonna help you much.  But I download the app that was used by that artist anyway. Thinking that digitally I created something half way decent already – my blog and the headers and everything on it.  Who knows, maybe this little app called Brushes can really work something out for me.  And really to my surprise, this little app that can let you use your fingers to paint digitally on your iPhone is so amazing that I was able to create something nice!

I painted 2 paintings so far, one is on that robot in JJ Abrams’ company logo, another one is on Spider-man’s mask.  The choices were completely random, I didn’t consciously choose them to be my first projects.  I just came across them and something hit me and I just started painting them.  Given how convenient this tool is since it’s on my iPhone be with me at any time and do not need any messy tools like real paints and brushes.  I truly hope this is just the beginning and it can help unleash some potential artistic instinct in me.
