LibraryThing

6 June 2009 289 views No Comment

librarything-homepageI don’t know why I never joined LibraryThing. I know of its existance for a long time and I know I definitely have friends who are on it. Now think of it maybe because LibraryThing always seems so cluttered with too many text displayed and at the time I was using Delicious Library on the Mac, granted it is slightly different since it is more of your personal catalog and while LibraryThing has more of a social element in it. But because Delicious Library is too pretty in comparsion, I guess I didn’t look at LibraryThing favorably and that’s why I never joined.

Fast forward to now when I finally get back to being reading causal books frequently just like the time before Internet comes along, to the point that I have read more than 6 novels this year and it’s only June. I really want to keep track of my reading habit and share it with other social media such as my blog and facebook etc. I thought of LibraryThing again and took the plunge. So far I cataloged a portion of my books and also some of my recent readings borrowed from friends or libraries. To me some interface of LibraryThing is still very cluttered up, especially the homepage! but I do like the cover view and it serves my purpose for now.  Besides, I m still a librarian at heart, I need to embrace a librarian’s product!
