Some upcoming Fantasy films

I love movies with fantasy elements. Now when it’s done by a fame director, it’s obviously even better. Below are trailers for four movies by Terry Gilliam, Peter Jackson, Richard Kelly, Wes Anderson. I love all their previous films and I am extremely excited at these films! Then there are 3 other fantasy films that I found but I wasn’t familiar with the directors, nevertheless, they could be very good~

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus – Terry Gilliam, the one who bought you classics like Monthy Python, 12 Monkeys, and The Brothers Grimm who is known for his imaginative and dark stories. This film is the last film for the late Heath Ledger, he died before finished it, his friends steps in while the director rewrite his character so that it can be played by 4 actors – Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell. I mean, just the names you know u have to see it, let alone the crazy imagery from this trailer, which guarantees a world of its own:

Lovely Bones – Peter Jackson, best known for, well, everybody knows! the Lord of the Rings! We haven’t seen anything new from him aside from the remake of King Kong a few years back, this film although not strictly a standard fantasy film, but more of a thriller. A powerful film from the point of view of a deceased. With the talented but young Saoirse Ronan, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg, Susan Sarandon and the unrecognizable Stanley Tucci, highly anticipated!

The Box – Richard Kelly – a director who made only 2 films prior to this. But his first film is the cult classic mind-fuck called Donnie Darko, and his second film is a disastrously mind-fuck Southland Tales. Needless to say, I am waiting for another mind-fuck flick where I will have to spend days to figure out and debate what the hell did I watch and what the heck was going on in the film. But that’s the fun of his films!

The Fantastic Mr. Fox – Wes Anderson, a quirky and yet cute director who’s 4 previous films are some of my favorites – Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and the Darjeeling Limited. You know it’s his movie because his style is so unique – but this time this is a stop-motion animated film instead of live-action…would that change anything? I dunno, because the voice talents are all actors in his previous films: Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe, and with added big names like George Clooney and Meryl Streep. I can’t wait to see what kind of chemical reaction would this bunch stir up!

Now here’s 3 other upcoming fantasy films I found:

Legion – I always find movies depicting Angels very interesting. I guess its because Hollywood rarely show Angels on screen for fear of having religious elements in the films. But the films that has the guts to have Angels in it are usually kick-ass! Dogma is fantastic, even Constantine, which might not be everyone’s favorite but Tilda Swinton’s Angel Gabriel single-handedly save the film with her awesome performance! Now this film looks extremely creepy and also epic, not to mention Paul Bettany as Angel who fights other Angels, I mean, comeon! I got to see this!

Dorian Gray – the pretty Prince Caspian, oops, i mean Ben Barnes, as the most famous pretty face with a horrible curse, with the always great Colin Firth, that’s enough reason to get me buy the tickets to the theater!

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant – Now this one is just completely strange and freaky, it could very well suck but it’s so strange that I think I need to see it!
