Show my Desktop again

20 September 2009 545 views 4 Comments

A few years back I was tagged to show my desktop, that was when I was still using my Powerbook G4 as my main computer.  It’s fun to show off the desktop because it also preserved a piece of your own computer history.  Anyway, lately I found this site called Minimal Mac and was extremely impressed by ways to simplify your desktop to look good, I followed some advice there and clean up my desktop a bit.  Now many on that site go to the extreme end to have absolutely nothing on their desktop! seriously nothing!  I do not like that.  My main goal is just to simplify the clutter on my iMac and makes it look good.  In addition, a lot of the setup the site showed was for a singular wallpaper only, if you know me you know I can’t even stay in one hairstyle in a week, so only having one wallpaper setup isn’t gonna work for me.  So I have a rotating wallpapers setup that work really well.  So here are a few of my favorite wallpapers and how they look on my desktop:

Now the customization was done with Candybar to change the icons, the rotating wallpapers was just a built-in option in System Preference of OSX, the Now Playing display at the bottom right corner is the result of Bowtie, and the date and time setup is by using Geektool.

    Hi.
I must say I like your blog!
I just love the fourth image there with the worn leather look and the old, striped Apple logo. Is there any chance you could share the source image or perhaps create one that fits a 1920×1200 screen?

    Thanks in advance.

I got it from Flickr. Go to Flickr here http://www.flickr.com/photos/vip1984/sets/72157607366438942/ and u see the rapidshare link? follow the instruction and you will get the whole set in large format. the image you referred to it’s in 2560×1600.

    Thank you!

I appreciate it very much, especially considering I’ve been using my current background for 6 months or so :)

If you are using a Mac consider using the Change picture option in System Preferences>Desktop&Screen Saver. That way no more 6 months+ backgrounds~ :)
