Zombieland was an action comedy that is pure fun, and oh, it has zombies in it! The plot is pretty standard zombie flick – virus turn human into flesh-eating zombies, and now there’s only very few people left in this world.  It was only two months after the zombie apocalypse, but most places are already deserted.  Woody Harrelson find the perfect role to play here as a guy who find killing zombies as fun as sport, and his only passion is to find the remaining Twinkies on Earth! Jesse Eisenberg …

This week is truly a concert week, besides going to Regina’s concert the other day, Friday I went to Mika’s concert at United Palace Theater in Washington Heights.  The venue is unique because it is one of those classical theater back in the golden days.  The decorations are like nothing You have seen before,  Seriously if the place is maintained a little bit better, the interior is pretty better looking than Radio City.  Of course the major disadvantage is the location – 175th St uptown.  I think most of the …

Yesterday I went to see Regina Spektor’s concert the third time this year, but unlike the previous two times, this is a real paid, full length concert at Radio City Music Hall.  Before the concert, I did worry about if I will get tired of her shows after two times.  But all worries faded away when she started to sing.  She is as lovely as ever and with a much richer rundown given the added time compared to the free shows at Apple or B&N, there were definitely pleasant surprises.
I …

I was having a craving for sea urchin, the delicious uni.  So I search for high and low, for the best place to enjoy this delicatessen! From my research I found out that Soto in the Village has an unusual menu that is rich with uni – not only one dish, but five!  The chef there just love to use this ingredient, so I have no choice but to try it out, no matter how expensive it will be.  The result does not disappointed, I was pretty much in heaven! Not …

New York »

Another year, another opportunity to get in line and see some places in NY that you have never been before! This year I tried some not so popular sites to avoid the lines.  Unfortunately, this weekend a lot of things were going on in the city, from the Food & Wine Festival to the Breast Cancer Walk, and the worst of all – the mother of Subway repairs! 18 out of all 20 subway lines were in some kind of irregular schedules, be it skipping stops or replace by …

Last time I talked about Twitter Apps, I used Tweetie on the desktop while Twitterrific 2 for the iPhone.  This week I switched to Tweetie 2 for the iPhone once it came out!  There’s no free version on the iPhone, unlike the desktop, so why would I want to pay 3 bucks for a Twitter app when there’s a million free ones out there?  It all started with when the one person developer of Tweetie announced that Tweetie 2 will not be a free upgrade but a paid app.  (yes, …

Tap Tap Revenge was one of the break out game for the iPhone platform.  I never cared about the original game that much, mostly because of the music choice.  But I respect the creator for bringing a well-crafted high quality game to iPhone for FREE.  Then comes TTR2 which has some more familiar songs once in a while for free but if you want some really well known songs to play with, you have to buy their separate app for Coldplay, Lady Gaga, etc.  I hate to clutter up my …

The only reason I got the book was because Amber Benson. Obviously I am curious to see how Tara from Buffy do in the literary world. Not to mention there was a book-signing by her in Midtown Comics, so I got her signature and had a brief chat with her so it was pretty cool. Now the book itself is filled with interesting concepts and plots and in general a good story, but the problem is, the main character Calliope is so unsympathetic that it’s impossible for me …

9 sets in a stunning post-apocalyptic world where all that’s left is deaths and destruction, well, and some tiny rag-dolls with numbers, and some deadly robotic beasts that are hunting them. The movie is incredible well-made with amazing details and style, and yet I found it too depressing to do a second viewing or recommend it to others. There are always films like that, so good and yet so depressing that you can’t even watch – Children of Men, I am looking at you! 9 is another example, …
