Tap Tap Revenge 3
Tap Tap Revenge was one of the break out game for the iPhone platform. I never cared about the original game that much, mostly because of the music choice. But I respect the creator for bringing a well-crafted high quality game to iPhone for FREE. Then comes TTR2 which has some more familiar songs once in a while for free but if you want some really well known songs to play with, you have to buy their separate app for Coldplay, Lady Gaga, etc. I hate to clutter up my iPhone screen with the ever growing number of apps, so I really don’t like the idea of releasing everything separately. Of course I understand that’s the only way for them to make money before iPhone OS 3.0, but I just didn’t like it.
Now comes Tap Tap Revenge 3 (iTunes Link)! Because of the in-app purchase ability of iPhone OS 3.0, there’s no longer a need to release each artist into separate apps since you can do everything in the main TTR3 app. However, due to the policy of it needed to be a pay app to have in-app purchase, TTR3, unlike the two previous incarnation, is now 99 cents instead of free. And immediately you can hear the chatters all over the internet about how the company has $$ in their eyes, how it is not fair and how now many tracks cost money to purchase! In my opinion, those are whole bunch of cry babies that are like Scrooge! First of all TTR3 cost 99 cents, okay if you didn’t know about Apple policy, you may complain. Now that you know though, theres no reason to complain because it’s Apple’s policy and not Tapulous’s decision. And for the people who don’t understand Apple’s policy – it’s to make sure some other less honorable developers will not release a free app that doesn’t really work until you pay more via in-app purchase. I don’t think anyone want to be trick by those developers so this policy is, not the best solution, but do works against cases like that.
As for the more famous or popular songs now required you to buy from within the app. That’s really no different than in TTR2, except that it used to be a separate app for each big name artist but now they all show up as in-app purchase! Don’t you think this way is better than having 5 different TTR special artist edition apps all over your iPhone? Some argued that there were some big name songs that were free is not free now. My response is yes that’s suck, but there wasn’t that many big names songs back then. And they still offer free tracks from some big name artists – like this week’s featured track – Fall Out Boy’s Sugar We’re Goin Down. Besides, people are really complaining about a dollar here and a dollar there?? a six songs pack is only 3 bucks! don’t be so cheap people!!
I bought the game and 3 different song bundles and I was having a blast! if you are being cheap consider this: guitar heroes or rock bands on your Play Stations will cost you at least ten times more~~
