Plants vs. Zombies for iPhone

22 February 2010 495 views No Comment

Plants vs. Zombies on the iPhone is as familiar as the computer version, almost all the major elements are there with the exception of the Zen Garden, and that the mini games are now rolled into the main adventure. Other than that and some minor visual tweak to fit on the iPhone screen, it’s essentially the exact same addictive game. And for some reasons, touch-control is more intuitive than mouse-control, it actually enhanced the gameplay! I remember moving and clicking my mouse around to collect sunlight on the computer version was my least favorite part of the game. On the iPhone though, your fingers are free to move around tapping anywhere you want, it kinda free you to focus on your strategy to deal with the zombies.  Graphics might looks smaller, but somehow it really is not difficult at all to place the plants.  PopCap did such an amazing job porting the game to iPhone, it’s not only well implemented and also stable! I wish all the game developers pay as much attention on their games as PopCap (cough*EA*cough)

In a way I think this port of PvZ demonstrated the potential of the iPad. Some games or softwares fit better with touch-control than a keyboard-mouse combo or console control. If developers can focus on what fits the best on the iPad, with a larger screen, I think it will be very exciting.
