New York I Love You
Finally watched the movie New York I Love You. I have been looking forward to see it since I love the first film in this series paris, je t’aime. The film still has the theme of moments of love in a city, but the execution is entirely different. The different pieces of paris, je t’aime were put together very loosely, there might be some relationships between the characters of different pieces, but by large all the pieces are very much stand alone – which in a way is great because it allows for entirely different style and genre for the pieces. The stories in New York I Love You are more interconnected. The whole film could be done by a single director for all I know~ All the stories and characters are almost all connected to this video documentary artist who uses her camcorder to record all the moments that passes by her. Because of this interconnection, the uniqueness of each pieces faded into the background and it isn’t as exciting anymore. Plus to be honest, the different stories were all kind of dull. I mean you can definitely still sit through the movie because of all the star powers, but as a whole, it failed to be a successful follow-up of paris, je t’aime.
