Novels based on TV series are usually not what I would read cos no matter how good they are, they usually not consider to be really part of the TV series’ timeline or reality. Most of the time it might contradict with the storyline if the series is on-going. However, I come across this book in the store – Doctor Who: The Story of Martha. I wasn’t gonna pick it up, especially Doctor Who is still an on-going series that what ever happened in this book, the chances that the TV series …

The dream I had with two people in an empty factory with a vampire underneath and zombies surrounding the building got me thinking real hard about this plot. It is such a good one! The vampire will need to protect them because he will need their blood. How did my dream come up with that? I think I heard about a premise of vampires protecting human from zombies a long time ago, it must have been a book or a movie or something. I did some search …

Inkheart is one of the few books that the movie version is actually better. It is not because the movie is really good, it is because the movie gets the appeal of the concept, while the author of the book for some reason, don’t. The concept of the book is about someone who has the ability to read out characters from the books, bring them to live. The appeal as anyone can see, is characters from many books making a “guest appearance” here and how they affect the story. It’s …

I ordered the limited edition of the Tales of Beedle the Bard like ages ago – seriously, it was like back at the days of my last job. Anyway, it arrived on December 4th, the day that I went to LA. It was sent to my friend’s house and after I come back, I still hadn’t have a chance to get the book because someone was being forgetful! I didn’t get it until the day of the Harry Potter Movie Marathon – a very fitting occasion to receive it, but it also …

Now that I started to read New Moon, the second book in the Twilight Series. I think I need to talk about the first book – Twilight a little more before I move on. At first I really don’t understand why the book was so captivating to me. As good as it is, in term of young adult fantasy series, it doesn’t have the depth of His Dark Materials, nor the complexity of the Harry Potter world. But to my surprise, it hooked me just as much as these two …

When I first heard of “Twilight”, all I know was that it’s another young adult series that got greenlight into a movie starring Cedric from Harry Potter. I didn’t think too much about it because the description was just pretty much another vampire movie. Months passed and then the first trailer and poster start popping up online, the buzz gets louder. The trailer doesn’t show anything we haven’t seen in other movies before, but somehow this movie just got my attention – obviously having Cedric – Robert …

I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at 3am this morning, 27 hours after I bought the book. I wasn’t going for speed, otherwise I wouldn’t have sleep or go to brunch or walking or played 2 hours of civ4/zoo tycoon2, watched an hour of Smallville season 3 and one episode of Loop. But still, I was astonished by how fast I read. Seriously I thought I lost the ability to do that. I read a lot of books and read really fast back in …
