Even though I did watch the first chapter of the motion comic on iTunes before I go to the movies.  I still didn’t know what to expect from the Watchmen since I didn’t read the original graphic novel.  I was completely satisfied and amazed upon coming out of the theater.  It made X-Men and most superheroes movies seem juvenile!  There are just too many elements of the film that you can give praise for: the depth of the plot, the complexities of the character and how the story explore the flaws in superheroes and human …

He’s Just Not That Into You doesn’t feel like a typical romantic comedy. It’s more of a cynical look at the dating scene and relationship but still have somewhat of a happy ending. The guys in the movies are all douche bags when we first meet them. A guy who just finished a date with a girl and immediately call another girl, a married man flirted with a girl at the supermarket, a guy who refused to marry his girlfriend of 7 years, a boss that slept with his …

Is it just me or the Twilight movies has more buzz and rumors than a superhero film? With the second movie scheduled to be release this coming November, they really have to finish pre-production and start shooting~ But the casting rumors keep on flying in, from Vanessa Hudgens to Dakota Fanning, from Lindsay Lohan to Hilary Duff, even Sir Ian McKellan and Alan Rickman, rumors just flying everywhere and no one know which one can be confirm! Then comes the rumor that even Madonna will get involved! I mean really? …

Ever since Scott introduced me to Neil Gaiman, every time there’s a movie based on his work, I would definitely go see it.  Coraline is one of them and I have to say it’s the best so far.  Nei’s work is always dark, sometimes I wonder if him and Tim Burton are long lost brothers.  Coraline is a stop-motion picture that has a dark story.  The most famous stop-motion picture that has a dark story was coincidentally Tim Burton’s the Nightmare Before Christmas.  Comparison is inevitable and I think Coraline won …

Seems like just about every movie Brendan Fraser did involve CGI creatures. Inkheart is no exception. In fact there are quite a few of them in the film. Adapted from a German young adult novel of the same name by Cornelia Funke, Inkheart is about a bookbinder who has the unfortunate talent of bring things in the book to life by reading out loud. Unaware of his talent at first, he brought out villains in the book Inkheart to the world and terrible things happened…

It’s confirmed that Jacob Black in New Moon will be played by the same actor Taylor Lautner in Twilight – unlike what the rumors said previously. I know many people are disappointed, but I think he’s gonna try extra hard to prove that he can play the role given the vocal opposition. Since it’s a done deal now, let’s just wait ’til the trailer for the movie to come out before we start judging. And watch the interview here, at least he’s all buffed up! (damn that’s some impressive muscles!!) In related news…

Yesterday I went to a Harry Potter movies marathon at the legendary Ziegfeld Theatre in midtown. In the words of Ron Weasley, it’s bloody brilliant and yet completely mental! Yeah, 15 hours in a theater, it’s not for everyone~ Lack of proper meals for a whole day, cram in a seat with not much leg room, it’s even worse than if you are flying coach on a cross-pacific flight! But in the end, it’s all worth it~~ It’s not every day that they all showing on the big …

The next book in the Twilight series will be turning into a movie is inevitable. Indeed the movie New Moon is announced with a new director and a release date of November 2009. (kinda rush, isn’t it? they better not screw it up by rushing it out the door~) Now the question is, will the existing cast stays the same and who will play the new characters?…

If Twilight is a teenage girl’s fantasy, then Were the World Mine is a gay boy’s dream come true! Were the World Mine is an indie gay musical movie that is inspired by William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It charmed me away immediately just by the preview I saw on Apple. And I really like it a lot after seeing the actual movie. The plot is simple, a gay teen named Timothy use a love potion described in Shakespeare’s play and turn his small close-minded town …

If you are looking for action or big sequence of destructions of your favorite landmarks, you probably would be disappointed at The Day the Earth Stood Still. It’s more of a thought provoking movie. I was impressed with the new idea that this movie presented in the sci-fi genre even if this is a remake – just look at the alien’s traveling aircraft is finally not a flying saucer but a sphere (granted Terminator travels in a sphere too, but they are not aliens), then there’s the bio …
