More news about Apple coming to Williamsburg: Post now saying it will land on the retail area of the future Edge condo, currently building right next to the almost finished Northside Piers condo. That large group of big developments by the awesome waterfront area. It is reported that Apple is looking at a 3,000-5,000 foot corner space while Barneys will be its neighbor. I know these big buildings will change the neighborhood completely, the things I like about the neighborhood from the artsy scene, galleries, funky restaurants …

I have always wonder when will MTA expand their contact-less smart-card payment trial to the rest of the system everyday when I passed by those special turnstiles. Maybe some of you might not notice them, but trial happens to be at some of my most frequent stations – Grand Central, Union Sq, Court Sq and 23rd Ely Ave, and the rest of the 4/5/6 line. Now the news is that they will extend the trial period indefinitely and expand it to certain bus lines as well. …

First year I found out about Open House New York, I was too late and couldn’t go, last year not only I went all over town for it but I also drag my friend to go with me, this year though, I skipped completely. Not that it lost its appeal, it will always appeal to the inner urban explorer in me. It’s just the timing of this year is just not that great. It landed on a weekend after two hectic weeks at work where I was …

Ever since I got my own place in Brooklyn and my parents moved away from Flushing, whether the 7 train is express or local doesn’t concern me anymore. Both express and local stops at the first three stops in queens anyway, i can take either one. So when news come that MTA is trying out new LED signs to distinguish between the express and local train, I don’t really care, but the article did bring up a valid question – Why the hell don’t they use the diamond …

Park(ing) Day is a day that people take back some of the parking space on the street and convert it into a well, Park! It’s an interesting concept and event that is popular in Europe and the West Coast and finally it reaches New York this year. (Last year there was one parking slot, this year there’s a dozen across 5 borough) Put the Park back in Parking as people said~ (seriously why parking is call parking? it doesn’t involve a park!) When I first heard about it, i really …

Time Out has an excellent article about the best ‘hoods with New York soul. What it means is the places with still the neighborhood charm and not dominated by chain brand name generic stores. Places that you feel like it’s New York and a great urban city place by the standard of Jane Jacobs. When I read Jane Jacob’s fame The Death and Life of Great American Cities, it really open up my eyes on how a city should work and what makes it lively instead of …

It’s break week again, not to mention the weather is perfect with its sunny sky and 60s cool temperature. To take advantage of such a perfect combination, I have been doing some sight-seeing all over the city for the past few days.
Monday: Meat Packing DistrictMy main purpose was actually scouting in the neighborhood in an attempt to find a restaurant for my second birthday party~ (first one is all set and ready! hehe) I already did a lot of research online, so it was just walking around the area, …
