After UNIQLO, now there’s another major Japanese store coming to NY – MUJI! According to this NY Sun’s article, MUJI will open up a flagship store in the not-yet-completed New York Times Building on 8th Ave. MUJI actually has 2 location in NY already – but as a tiny section attached to MOMA museum stores. UNIQLO‘s global flagship store just opened this weekend in Soho, it’s pretty obvious that I won’t miss the chance to check out this Japanese fashion store! First Impression: it’s HUGE! it’s bigger than all of the stores in Soho, bigger than Adidas, bigger than Bloomingdales, bigger than Bestbuy, and even Apple store. I saw this and I can’t help myself but to adopt him!! It’s the cutest combination! Totoro and vintage tin toy! He walk awkwardly and wave his hand with the umbrella as he walk! It’s adorable! And the best thing about this is that the maker didn’t make it smooth or plastic-y like a real toy, it retains the rough edges of those vintage tin toy, it uses the older type of wind up metal handle instead of the small plastic one like some cheap modern toys. …
