To follow my own advice, I spent my free time today trying out the newly updated Pixelmator 1.4 with a blurry picture of mine that was on its way to the trash bin. What come out of it is a series of artwork that I called “Walking Down…”, It’s nothing professional of course, but I do like the results. Not only I gave new life to a picture that I was going to delete, I was also able to walk down the streets of New York without leaving my apartment! The one I like the most is…

The brief appearance of alternate headers during the LA trip was an experiment to see what other colors and graphics fit the look of this blog. I have a huge philosophy for the headers. They represent the 4 different themes from the old blog in Blogger, which in turns represent the four things that not only are my passions but have influence in my life as well. I was a bit wary to add more headers. More is not always good, they need to be fitting if I should add …

The evolution of this blog’s theme continues with a slight adjustment of the color scheme. It’s getting a bit darker with the change of background and navigation and bottom bars. The idea is to make the contents in the middle “pop” out a bit more!
In addition, since this coming week I will have to travel to Los Angeles for my best friend’s wedding. To commemorate such an occasion, for a limited time I will run 4 special edition headers in place of the regular ones. It’s also my way of saying that I …

Building something from the ground up is difficult, but adapting someone else’s work and make it into your own is not a easy task either. I am talking about blog themes. It’s been more than a month since I launched version 4.0 with a new theme on a new platform. So far I am extremely happy about the result. Of course nothing is perfect, I am constantly trying to improve it.
Since the launch about a month ago, one area I have been trying to improve is the navigation of the …

Welcome to version 4.0 of Harry Podder and the Big Apple! The biggest change of course is the address! that it moved from Blogger to my own domain with WordPress! I was tired of the restrictions and lack of regular expected features in Blogger, despite it’s flexibilities and ease of use. After some secret testing during the summer, I was increasingly fond of the features of the WordPress platform. Hence the switch.
Starting new is always difficult, so I did not design the theme myself like version 3.0. Instead I used the Arthemia …

It’s been 4 years since I started this blog. Last year to celebrate the occasion I gave the blog a total facelift with 4 switchable designs. I wasn’t going to re-invent the wheel so quickly, so for this year I set my eyes on improving the existing themes. With the switchable system in place, the update was much easier than ever before. Therefore, to celebrate this blog’s 4th birthday and Harry Potter’s birthday – which is tomorrow if you remember from the books – I announce the launching of a newly re-design Wizard theme!

It was around this time last year that I started to contemplate a major update to my blog that lead to the current incarnation with 4 switchable themes. By large I was quite satisfied with the result. Of course there is always room for improvement, and now looking back these rooms are actually huge! So I am thinking it’s time to lay out the plan for this year. It will not be a major overhaul like last year because let’s be honest, I have forgotten pretty much …

Some minor changes on the blog, which bumped the version to 3.1. Changes focused on the sidebars, most notable with the additions of Twitter to follow me and a radio-like Playlist which you can play all the music I handpicked. Enjoy the songs~

After the big launch of version 3.0 of this blog, I am announcing I just added something to the blog, something very very small. You might not even notice it. It’s about 16 pixels x 16 pixels big. You guess it right! it’s favicon! The choice is obvious, what’s better to represent Harry Podder who lives in the Big Apple and Love Apple than the shape of lightning and apple? The main decision comes down to the color combination. I might change the color later, but …

Today marked 3 years since I started this blog. To celebrate this occasion, version 3.0 of this blog is officially unveiled! When you visit the blog, one of the four new themes will be selected randomly to greet you. You can switch between the four new themes and the classic theme using the different style links in each of the header or the simple text links on the sidebar.
Each of the four themes represented something that is important to me, something that I like a lot and …
