Remember when Steve Jobs announced the transition to Intel Chip he mentioned how they have a team secretly running OSX on Intel chip for 5 years while they were using PowerPC chip on all their Macs? Well, I am doing the same to my blog! I am running two secret labs experimenting with other blogging platforms. As I mentioned in a previous post that I was frustrated with Blogger, so I have been secretly running an identical private blog using wordpress.com, another blog-hosting service that is similar to …

While working on my new wizard theme, I was increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress Blogger made in term of features. Granted they do add features and made progress on improving the system, but they are just too slow compared to the others. If you look at their blog post for the last 4 months, they did 4 bug fixes, add the feature of scheduling future posts, support for embedding Google Docs, a blogroll list, and restore the accounts that were mistakenly marked spam! Out of all these, …

It’s been 4 years since I started this blog. Last year to celebrate the occasion I gave the blog a total facelift with 4 switchable designs. I wasn’t going to re-invent the wheel so quickly, so for this year I set my eyes on improving the existing themes. With the switchable system in place, the update was much easier than ever before. Therefore, to celebrate this blog’s 4th birthday and Harry Potter’s birthday – which is tomorrow if you remember from the books – I announce the launching of a newly re-design Wizard theme!

The lack of updates lately means only one thing – work is killing me. It has been so busy this quarter that the only thing I want to do when I get home everyday is to sleep. I can barely keep up with the TV shows that’s gathering on my HD, in fact it seems the only time I watch the shows are during my commute and my lunch time! The number of unread posts on my Google Reader is also hitting record high. That’s why I keep quiet even …

Today another step is taken to move forward the redesign project code name Fred and George. You can see the blog is now in 3 columns with 2 sidebars on both side of the main blog. It was suppose to be a easy step, but it turns out not so much. The previous changes from the first two generations of this blog has many codes scatter everywhere so it was tough to make a layout change. Nevertheless it’s done and now I have more room to work with. It’s like …

I have been going on and on about my ongoing project of updating this blog, and I just realized I totally forgot to mention the code name of this project: Project Fred and George! HP fans will no doubt get the reference. My original plan was to have everything change and done and then roll it out all at the same time, but I realize the difficulty once I assess the situation. So I decided to roll out the change gradually. It was already happening with the few changes you …

I know I am totally late to this game but I finally started to manage my RSS feeds of this blog by joining feedburner. Haven’t explore all the options yet, but I am quite excited to see what kind of stats it will produced. I also followed the tutorial from PurpleMoggy to integrate the confusing feeds the Blogger give out. So if it’s not too much trouble, please re-subscribe my feed through the giant RSS feed icon I have at the sidebar, thanks!

After the tag cloud, I made another feature update to my blog, this time the target is the archive section “Old Memories” Originally when I switch to new Blogger I choose the pull down menu view for the archive…but soon I was informed that it wasn’t functioning, I wasn’t sure why but I switch back to the flat view. Today I updated it and made it into a calendar view with pull down menu with the current month’s post listed below. The best thing about this setup …

After some research, I found a good site that teach you how to add tag cloud to new Blogger without using any third-party software or sites. All you need is the original Label widget in the new Blogger layout and some editing skill to mess around with the html and CSS code. The result? you can see mine on the side bar~ The site offer a lot more stuff that are made for Blogger, I will implement another feature pretty soon~ stay tunes!
