Now that I started to read New Moon, the second book in the Twilight Series. I think I need to talk about the first book – Twilight a little more before I move on. At first I really don’t understand why the book was so captivating to me. As good as it is, in term of young adult fantasy series, it doesn’t have the depth of His Dark Materials, nor the complexity of the Harry Potter world. One of my favorite author passed away today at the age of 90. Arthur C. Clarke, one of the last of the sci-fi literature giants, who is also a visionary in technology that conceptualized communication using satellite. His best known work is 2001 A Space Odyssey. It’s very fortunate that I work in a location that is full with Japanese in the ‘hood. So not only there are abundant good affordable Japanese food for lunch, there are also 3 Japanese bookstores around. Not that I know how to read Japanese, nor have any intention of learning. (I can barely handle two languages! and I am lazy!) I could, in the best case scenario, guess about the meaning of 6 characters in a 50 words paragraph.
