Just got a new camera, so of course I would like to test-drive it somewhere.  But given the murderous sun and the 80 degree weather.  I didn’t make it far.  Only up to Williamsburg, which happens to have Bedford closed off for the Pedestrians again this summer!  The event is called Williamsburg Walks, it’s not those stupid street fair but more a plaza with some chairs and table for people to relax.  And given the location, you know it would turn artsy, so you got musicians and artists showing their …

One of the few complaints I have about my neighborhood and Williamsburg is that there’s very few authentic Japanese food here.  The only ones that I can think of are Bozu and Zenkichi, both in Williamsburg and are targeting the higher end customers.  I never thought the lack of choices situation will change much….until now.  I was walking around in my ‘hood and I found this place – Ichiran Ramen on Manhattan Ave and Green! It’s in the morning so obvious it’s not open, but I read this funny sign …

With all the talks of stimulus money from the Federal, We have yet to hear anything that benefit New York City directly.  Sure the governor unveiled how the State is going to use the money alloted to New York State, but all the projects he announced are for upstate only.  Coupled that with last week’s event where the State legislative refused to pass any resolution to aid MTA – which led to MTA passed the doomsday budget which will kill off many subway and bus service most needed in addition …

It is official! I am obsessed with Alter, the boutique right across from me. How do I know? well, here’s how: Despite the fact that I already bought this particular tee from there last month, once I found out from their blog that they have a new color of the same tee, I went straight into the store and buy it, and that is only a few days after I bought a pair of jeans and a funky shirt from them!…

Looks like that horrible place down the street made itself to the New York Times!  That chicken killing place is probably the single most horrible thing in Greenpoint, (well other than the waste water plant, Newton Creek and the G train~ but the waste plant and the creek are too far out for me to care~)
Apparently the condo neighbors next door is having a fight with the slaughterhouse~ This time I am siding with the condo people cos the entire street is residential, or light commercial, why on earth would a …

I don’t know why but this Valentine’s Day seems to affect me more than usual.  So to counter that, I use the oldest solution in the book – buying myself a gift! I already have quite a few of items I want, but none of them I can get my hands on instantly.  So I went downstairs to my trusted boutique Alter and picked something out that can wear it immediately!  I got this really awesome Cheap Monday Hector Check shirt that not only is hooded but has this really cool front piece in place …

On an icy Sunday, I went to the newly built N5th Street Pier on the Williamsburg waterfront.  There’s a bit of mystery surrounding this place because first of all it’s well-hidden, and it’s limited access, and it’s not well publicized despite the fact that it is a public-access pier!  It is located behind the still constructing Northern Piers condos, and it is only open for public during weekends.  as you can imagine, there’s hardly any people there, it’s pretty much just a person or two.  There isn’t much to see besides the …

January is the best month to shop for clothes. This January is specially true. You got the regular factors: 1) seasonal change – retailer need to get rid of all the winter clothes for the Spring season; 2) New collection – They also need to clear out all last year’s style for the brand new year’s new collection; Those two are already good enough reason for them to have the biggest sale of the entire year. This month though, has two additional factors that further push …

I knew it! I know it’s not my illusion that it seems like I have seen more Europeans in Williamsburg than before!  Now New York Times back me up saying that Williamsburg is going through a Europeanization now that newly arrived starving artists and musicians can no longer afford the neighborhood!  The Europeans like the neighborhood because it’s still some what cheaper than the City, the abundant of newly built condos with larger square footage than Manhattan, the cafes and it’s artistic vibe that remind many of them neighborhoods back …

Today Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg open to the public for the first time.  Well, the site is open, but you can’t get inside the buildings.  But still, it is a rare chance to explore this section of Williamsburg waterfront.  I guess the developer open it up to gain community support for its eventual conversion to, you guess it right, a condo~  The site itself is huge and it will be interesting how they can make it into a condo without tearing down the structure~ (they are not allowed to, …
