This week is truly a concert week, besides going to Regina’s concert the other day, Friday I went to Mika’s concert at United Palace Theater in Washington Heights. The venue is unique because it is one of those classical theater back in the golden days. The decorations are like nothing You have seen before, Seriously if the place is maintained a little bit better, the interior is pretty better looking than Radio City. Of course the major disadvantage is the location – 175th St uptown. I think most of the …

Yesterday I went to see Regina Spektor’s concert the third time this year, but unlike the previous two times, this is a real paid, full length concert at Radio City Music Hall. Before the concert, I did worry about if I will get tired of her shows after two times. But all worries faded away when she started to sing. She is as lovely as ever and with a much richer rundown given the added time compared to the free shows at Apple or B&N, there were definitely pleasant surprises.
I …

A month after Regina Spektor’s concert in Soho Apple, she’s here again this time at Barnes & Nobles in Union Square. Even though I just saw her and will see her again in October at Radio City Music Hall, I still went to Barnes & Nobles – it’s free! so why not? It turns out to be a very unique experience than a regular concert. The format is a series that B&N called “Upstairs at the Square: Writer & Artist Mixed” where a writer and an artist …

One of artist performing at my favorite place in the world? of course I would attend! it’s a no-brainer! The only question for attending Regina Spektor’s Live at Soho, Apple Store is just logistic issue like how early I should be there since it’s a Friday and it’s a free limited space event! Given the recent surge in popularity of her music, such as being one of the main song in (500) Days of Summer, I really wasn’t sure if leaving a few hours early from work would be good …

A few months ago I found out that there are two concerts coming up at the same time on March 7, both from artists that I really like – Lisa Hannigan at the Highline Ballroom and the Bird and the Bee at Carnegie Hall. It was such a tough choice for me because I would love to go to both. Eventually I settled on the Bird and the Bee because of two reasons: 1) I saw a little bit of Lisa Hannigan when she was opening for Jason …

I went to Jason Mraz’s concert yesterday night at Radio City Music Hall. Just like his concert 3 years ago, he can just sing any notes, super high or crazy low, the range is ridiculous~ He sang most of the songs from his new album, but of course there’s also some of his classics like The Remedy and You and I Both, etc. He also did some Impromptu cover songs like the Happy Days (yes, the theme song!) His live performance is always fun to see because the music arrangement is always different than …

Even though I have been to a fair number of concerts, this is actually my first ever Cantonese concert! so I was very excited, not to mention Eason’s friends with Miriam. I kinda feel like I am one step closer to see Miriam in concert~
The concert was in Mohegan Sun Casino in Conn., the same place I went to last year to see Leehom Wang’s concert. Since this time we are driving instead of waiting for those damn slow bus, it felt a lot faster even …

This is probably the gayest but most entertained concert I even been to. All the previous concerts I’ve been to, from Regina Spektor to KT Tunstall to Jason Mraz to Imogen Heap, most of them are pretty simple, just the performers, their bands and the instruments, nothing fancy because their focus was the music. For Mika, you get the whole show! There’s all kind of props and costume changes. Before the concert I wasn’t sure if he is those studio singers that can’t sing live, but his …

Given the relative comfort and ease of my last concert (KT Tunstall), I would have thought the concert of Regina Spektor is even easier since I thought KT is a bigger name than Regina given that KT is all over iTunes and Starbucks, and her songs are on from Devil Wears Prada to Ugly Betty. But I was wrong, the crowd is much larger for Regina’s concert last night. The line was wrapped around the whole block. The concert was packed! Luckily our tickets were for …

I went to KT Tunstall’s concert with Scotty last night. It was held at the recently opened venue Highline Ballroom. I have only been to a handful of concerts so my only comparison is to the Webster Hall and Lincoln Center. Anyway, Compare to the maze of staircases and hallways of Webster Hall, Highline Ballroom is a lot smaller and intimate. You are much closer to the stage even if you come late. The AC was blasting in this nice space so for a sizzling …
