Part 2 of End of Time was touching and disappointing at the same time. Spoiler alert of course. David and Bernard gave some strong performances, especially in those quiet scenes without actions! Those are the meat of the episode! I also loved that final moment the Master and the Doctor worked together to send the Time Lords back, it was this complex frienemy relationship that make these two character interesting! I also like how the two silly aliens that were pretty much a comic relief in Part 1 is actually incredible …

Spoiler alert……..
Writing about part 1 of a 2 part episode is always difficult because you never really get the full picture of the story. Part 1 is always consist of setups and cliffhangers. That is the case here with part 1 of End of Time. What made this particularly an un even episode is that it is also a Christmas special episode! We tend to forget that Doctor Who was a family show in all its history and still is one after the revival. Its Christmas special were always a …

If people are like software, then they would also have newer versions of themselves when it’s time to replace the older self. A closer example that might make it easier to understand is Doctor Who – the Doctor is a Time Lord, and Time Lord can regenerate 13 times. The latest Doctor is the tenth, and his time is ending soon, the eleventh Doctor will replace him.
Of course the Doctor is a fictional character, real human can’t regenerate when they are about to die. My thought is applying the …

2009 is a tough year for Whoinverse fans. Not only this is the last year for the beloved Tenth Doctor David Tennant, but also because of his commitment with the theater, instead of a regular 13 episodes season, there are only 4 specials leaving fans wanting more. Then Doctor Who’s spin-off Torchwood for some reason also don’t have a regular season, instead it become a one week miniseries of 5 episodes. Of course I was questioning that decision very much, unlike Doctor Who, none of the Torchwood actors were committing …

Novels based on TV series are usually not what I would read cos no matter how good they are, they usually not consider to be really part of the TV series’ timeline or reality. Most of the time it might contradict with the storyline if the series is on-going. However, I come across this book in the store – Doctor Who: The Story of Martha. I wasn’t gonna pick it up, especially Doctor Who is still an on-going series that what ever happened in this book, the chances that the TV series …

The newly announced Doctor is nothing like what people speculated. He’s not a woman, he’s not black, he’s not a well-known actor, his name didn’t show up in rumors. And yet here we go we have the youngest Doctor in the entire history of the show. The young age is definitely caught people by surprise and also what people are focusing on right now. To me my thought was the Doctor has the same condition as Benjamin Button! (just look at how old were the first …

According to the tenth Doctor David Tennant himself via an official statement, he will be leaving the role after the four specials in 2009. Everyone has their own favorite Doctor. To me, I like both the ninth Doctor and tenth Doctor, I think that Christopher Eccleston’s ninth Doctor is more confident and yet arrogant. He is also just so fun all the time. While David’s tenth Doctor is more geeky and quirky and more humane. Then again because David is a lot cuter and his fashion is just so hipster-ish (You have no idea how …

The problem with the Journey’s End is that the resolutions of everything came just a bit convenient: Sarah Jane Smith was saved by Mickey and Jackie who happened to teleport just by her car? Okay, fine, I accepted it. The Doctor just pointed the regeneration energy to the severed hand after he healed himself so that he won’t be fully transform, fine, that’s okay too. But to have Gwen and Ianto saved by Toshiko’s completed Time Lock mechanism is just too convenient, not to mention contradicting. I …

After watching the series 4 finale of the new Doctor Who, it’s safe to say that I still would rate series 2 finale Army of Ghosts/Doomsday as the best out of all 4 finales. Series 4’s Stolen Earth/Journey’s End is a close second. Given we won’t see the next series until 2010 and all current creators of the show are stepping down after this year. I am giving an overall review of all 4 finales of the new series.
I like series 2’s Army of Ghosts/Doomsday because of its tragic love …

I think I like Doctor Who as much as Buffy/Angel now. As the 4th season of the new Doctor Who series slowly coming to an end, (Just 2 more episodes left!) I can’t help but want to talk about it.
At first it’s hard to compare DW to B/A, even though DW has 26 years of classic episodes, the new series is entirely different experience. If we only counted the new series started in 2005, DW is fairly young comparing to 7 years of Buffy. But now that …
