Plants vs. Zombies on the iPhone is as familiar as the computer version, almost all the major elements are there with the exception of the Zen Garden, and that the mini games are now rolled into the main adventure. Other than that and some minor visual tweak to fit on the iPhone screen, it’s essentially the exact same addictive game. And for some reasons, touch-control is more intuitive than mouse-control, it actually enhanced the gameplay! I remember moving and clicking my mouse around to collect sunlight on …

Tap Tap Revenge was one of the break out game for the iPhone platform.  I never cared about the original game that much, mostly because of the music choice.  But I respect the creator for bringing a well-crafted high quality game to iPhone for FREE.  Then comes TTR2 which has some more familiar songs once in a while for free but if you want some really well known songs to play with, you have to buy their separate app for Coldplay, Lady Gaga, etc.  I hate to clutter up my …

Civilization on iPhone is not the same PC game that we grow up with. It is the modified console version Civilization Revolution of last year that was intended for, consoles from Playstation to Xbox to Wii and even the DS. Obviously each one is different due to the difference in hardware, but the gameplay is the same – trying to simplify Civilization and fit it in places that are not a PC! The Revolution experiment works quite well since it was able to bring the Civilization experience …

I was definitely in need of something silly and fun to lighten up the mood, and this video game music video does it for me! The tune is catchy, and it got cutey plant singing with lots and lots of zombies!!! Seriously you need to sing-a-long!

It’s from the newly released casual game Plants vs Zombies! It’s one of those tower defense game.  I downloaded the demo and it is addictive!  The animation is cute and the game play is fun.  I am considering buying the game even.  I hope they …

The last few months I saw a revival gaming experience in my life, from on the desktop the Europa Universalis III and Spore, to PS3 the Little Big Planet, to the games on iPhone, and then Pokemon on NDS.  Pokemon and the NDS pretty much just take over once they arrived in my hands.  It’s my default game and I hardly plays the other games.  However, this situation may be changing since as it gets closer to the holidays, the drought of good quality or brand-name iPhone games finally ended, many …

I have always thought Pokemon is totally adorable.  I watched most of the first anime series but because of time and schedule I stopped watching the following series afterward.  And since I didn’t have any game consoles or collect any Pokemon cards, I don’t have much dealing with Pokemon unless you count the occasionally encounter in the Nintendo World store or other video games or toy stores.
It all changed once Scott bought me the NDS 3 weeks ago!  First of all it’s a limited edition with Pokemon engraved on …

I never own any game console or handhelds, and I was never a hardcore gamer. My favorites are non-mainstream games or niche like Simcity and Civilizations and such that they are better on a computer. But do I want one? oh yeah, especially everytime my parents let my brother to have yet another gaming machine~ Another thing is as silly as it sound, I love Pokemon, i think they are adorable! And yet I just never bought any gaming machine myself. I never imagine I would have one.
Imagine my surprise …

My likes and dislikes come in cycles. There are periods of obsession and then usually follows by intense dislike, fall out of favorite, then out of nowhere come back to top the chart of all my favorites. For example, in food, eel was one time my favorite that I have to eat it every single day. Then all of the sudden I stop liking them so much that I refuse to eat it. But now it’s back on the menu. Same thing with the Cantonese dim sum “Sticky Rice Chicken …

iPhone has the potential to be an awesome gaming platform, but so far most of the games available in the App store are generic cellphone games that got ported to the iPhone. There are some that take advantage of the unique hardware of iPhone like the multi-touch screen and the accelerometer to create a unique gameplay. Only a few that takes advantage of the graphic capability to create handheld console level games. From the few that I tried, I am going to ignore the generic games and …

Even though Spore won’t come out until September, but the creature creator for it is available (trial version)~ many of the options are locked but still, it’s more fun than I expected! You can create the creature, test drive it by making it sad, happy, angry, dance, sing, etc. You can record a movie, take a picture as well, everything is build in~ I am very impressed and can’t wait for the real game to come out!
Here is my creature~~ Don’t think he’s all cute and all~ He’s actually …
