My plans for today, Fourth of July was to either go to the Central Park Zoo to visit the snow leopard or head to P.S.1 contemporary center for their new exhibits.  Neither of the plans become a reality.  P.S.1 has the warmup concert going on today, so when I see the lines outside, I already said hell no!  Then on my way to the City, I realize my brand new low-rise jeans is hanging too low, it’s falling down every 2 mins and I didn’t wear a belt today (Because …

One of the few complaints I have about my neighborhood and Williamsburg is that there’s very few authentic Japanese food here.  The only ones that I can think of are Bozu and Zenkichi, both in Williamsburg and are targeting the higher end customers.  I never thought the lack of choices situation will change much….until now.  I was walking around in my ‘hood and I found this place – Ichiran Ramen on Manhattan Ave and Green! It’s in the morning so obvious it’s not open, but I read this funny sign …

With all the talks of stimulus money from the Federal, We have yet to hear anything that benefit New York City directly.  Sure the governor unveiled how the State is going to use the money alloted to New York State, but all the projects he announced are for upstate only.  Coupled that with last week’s event where the State legislative refused to pass any resolution to aid MTA – which led to MTA passed the doomsday budget which will kill off many subway and bus service most needed in addition …

It is official! I am obsessed with Alter, the boutique right across from me. How do I know? well, here’s how: Despite the fact that I already bought this particular tee from there last month, once I found out from their blog that they have a new color of the same tee, I went straight into the store and buy it, and that is only a few days after I bought a pair of jeans and a funky shirt from them!…

Looks like that horrible place down the street made itself to the New York Times!  That chicken killing place is probably the single most horrible thing in Greenpoint, (well other than the waste water plant, Newton Creek and the G train~ but the waste plant and the creek are too far out for me to care~)
Apparently the condo neighbors next door is having a fight with the slaughterhouse~ This time I am siding with the condo people cos the entire street is residential, or light commercial, why on earth would a …

I don’t know why but this Valentine’s Day seems to affect me more than usual.  So to counter that, I use the oldest solution in the book – buying myself a gift! I already have quite a few of items I want, but none of them I can get my hands on instantly.  So I went downstairs to my trusted boutique Alter and picked something out that can wear it immediately!  I got this really awesome Cheap Monday Hector Check shirt that not only is hooded but has this really cool front piece in place …

January is the best month to shop for clothes. This January is specially true. You got the regular factors: 1) seasonal change – retailer need to get rid of all the winter clothes for the Spring season; 2) New collection – They also need to clear out all last year’s style for the brand new year’s new collection; Those two are already good enough reason for them to have the biggest sale of the entire year. This month though, has two additional factors that further push …

Greenpoint is a main connector between Brooklyn and Queens, so naturally any cross-borough events must pass by here.  No matter if it’s the formal Five Boroughs Bike Tour or the wacky Idiotarod race, and of course, the New York City Marathon.  Last year the main attention was on the one celebrity who was running – Katie Holmes.  This year, the celebrity attention should be on the hot hot hot recently married to Scarlett Johansson Mr. Ryan Reynolds!  He even got a very funny piece of article talking about what he thought …

The boundaries of New York City’s neighborhood is always difficult to figure out. No one can tell you for sure the boundaries between East Village, LES and NoLita, or for a even more confusing fight between the Greenwich Village, West Village, Central Village, and Noho~
In North Brooklyn, it seems much easier because of a natural border of McCarren Park – South of the park is Williamsburg and North of it is Greenpoint. However the easy distinction is slowing eroding – First Williamsburg going from just Northside and Southside, …

After 18 months continuous usage (I hardly EVER shut it off), my iMac finally experiencing problems and need to take a trip to see a genius. Unlike my powerbook, the iMac is a 24″ screen giant monster, so a trip to the Apple store for me is a logistic nightmare. Without a car, my choices of Apple store is limited to the accessibility of public transit. The 5th Ave store is immediately eliminated because of the closest E,V train access are at least a few blocks away, not to mention …
