The new Genius function in iTunes 9 surprises me, but first, a little bit of history:
When the Genius Playlist function come out last year in iTunes 8, it was an alright feature for me.  The selection from Genius at first wasn’t too good, but improved over time.  But there’s always a problem I have with it is the lack of support of Chinese songs.  Granted there’s no Chinese iTunes Music Store, so there’s technically no songs in the iTunes Store that has Chinese character, hence there shouldn’t be able to …

I never used the Party Shuffle feature much on iTunes, cos the regular shuffle button is already what I needed, and frankly I like to be surprised for the song that is coming up next instead of seeing the the whole list of random songs that are coming up next.  But then again, it could just be the plain list view of the Party Shuffle was so boring that it turns me off.  Then Apple renamed Party Shuffle to iTunes DJ.  On the iTunes client doesn’t look like it change …

Given that I already got the iPhone and and iPod Classic (160GB! now extincted!) that is less than a year old, this Tuesday’s Apple iPod announcement although interesting, are not something that I would get. My main focus is the software feature that they announced and a certain accessories.

Even though iTunes doesn’t have a Chinese store, I have always know that the US store does contain some Chinese music in it. When I found out about it a couple years ago, there was only some old “Best of…” albums. Nothing really exciting, not to mention the cataloging was a mess, not to mention the song names are difficult to guess with names like “Yu Zhong Di Lian Ren Men.” Seriously, it took me a while to realize that is “雨中的戀人們”!
