Just like any other literature turns movie, Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief simplified the plot and leave out many details.  The white elephant is always in the room when it comes to children fantasy series that becomes a movie – the comparison to the gold standard of Harry Potter!  It’s never fair because nothing in the field can compare to Harry Potter, even when they are in their book form, nothing can compare to the popularity of Harry Potter!  The only comparison I will make here is …

The Last Olympian is a satisfying conclusion to the Percy Jackson series. Imagine the battle of Hogwarts in book 7 of Harry Potter or the Battle of Helms Deep in Lord of the Rings but move the setting into modern day Manhattan! It is grand and epic, and honestly perfect for a Hollywood treatment! First in a series set up the background and the main characters.  It give you a nice adventure story where at the end the good defeated evil.  The second chapter in a series usually give you way much more depth because this time around you realize the evil come back stronger and it has long term plans.  You also would realize the main character is center to the plot of the evil, that’s why he wasn’t killed.  Plus there will always be some kind of a prophecy about the future! …

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is one of those book that started off as an excellent idea and to my surprise, delivered in a great story as well. Not a lot of books can manage that. This is one of those book that once you pick it up you are not gonna put it down. I finished the book in one weekend and can’t wait to start the next book in the series!
The book is about a world where the Greek gods are real …
