My Pleo is now orphaned, its parent company Ugobe went bankrupted.  That means no more software updates or any new functionalities or a newer generation~ nothing at all~  It wasn’t the smartest business plan – built a company that relied solely on a $350 robotic toy~ It might survived in boom times, but now it’s not a huge surprise that it goes under.  Back in the days Sony has money to burn but still wasn’t able to sustain their $1000+ Aibos.  Does it mean there’s just no hope for smart …

It’s amazing how “real” Pleo feels! I know it’s just a robot with a plastic skin, but man he’s adorable! I dunno if it’s the little noise he makes or he little gesture like waging the tail and giving a sad face, or when you hold him and he fall asleep in your arms. It just make you believe he is real. I still want a Pleo even though I decided not to buy one for now. Mostly hoping for a battery improvement in version 2. But in any case, it is so adorable that even dolphins take notice!
