Mayor Bloomberg unveiled his master plan for the future of NY on Earth Day. It’s a gigantic plan that cover every aspect of a New Yorker’s life. It’s a great plan that I totally supported but getting all of it implement would be a difficult task! Estimated that 40% of the plan require state approval or cooperation from non-city agency – which mean they are out of the hands of Bloomberg. And the centerpiece of the plan is congestion pricing – which seems already stir up opposition …

The trip to DC definitely is a nice change of scenery – despite there wasn’t really any scenery involved because of the crazy storm and the schedules of my conference. I didn’t really have a chance to see DC. I spent most of the time in the hotel. I did manage to take the Metro, which I of course can’t help but to compare it with the NYC subway. It is hands down that DC has better subway stations. They are spacious and clean; architecture-wise …

Finally, a timer display for the next train for the L, just like many other subways around the world in the last century!! Now we just have to see if it will be the 22nd century until it completely expand to the rest of the subway lines!

News report that the city will distribute millions of condoms – with different color representing the different subway lines of NYC. This is believe to be the first city to have its own signature municipal condoms. Upon learning about this news, my question is who come up with this bizarre idea??? One could imagine what the meeting about this was like:
Advisor #1: We need to come up with an unique idea to market our free condom program. to distinguish it from all other previous effort. …

Is it just me or the city just finally realize people should be the priority, not cars? With more transit options planned out in the near future (Second Ave Subway, LIRR-Grand Central Connection, BRT) , correcting the confusing traffic black spots (Times Square Bow-tie, Brooklyn Grand Army Plaza) and giving back space to the pedestrian (Astor Place, 34th Street/Herald Square). Looks like the city is moving in a healthy direction for city life. Here comes the news of another horrible traffic spot that pedestrian of all ages would …

Finally another wave of new subway train is coming soon!! MTA is testing the new R160 train on the N and Q line for a 30 day trial. If all goes well there will be 660 cars by 2008. My normal commute mostly involves with the 4, 5, 6 and L. they are all using the new trains R142 and R143. My usual rides are pretty pleasant with the exception of the G and the 7 trains. I doubt these two lines will get these new trains anytime soon since …

Everyone told me how advance the subway in Hong Kong is nowadays, now that I have a first hand account. I can say yeah it’s true, but honestly though, not a giant leap forward that i expected. The train of course is much cleaner, and the signs and directions are clearer and easy to understand, the commercials on the train just keep on coming at you from the digital board. I guess because I am used to ride the most advanced subway lines out of the NYC subway system – …

I know I will get emotional today because of A’s leaving and B’s birthday, so I went to see a movie with Herbert and just hang out~ The plan works quite good because I was fairly entertained by the movie, “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” was very entertaining, I thought it was gonna suck based on what other people said, but, I enjoyed it~ with that and a nice dinner, i really thought I can get past the day without getting emotional, but I guess i just can’t get away with …

Is a neighborhood good or bad? How do you measure it? For me besides the usual, I rely on 3 counters, cutie count, gadget count, fashion count, and optional pet count~ It’s not really scientific, but I do believe it make sense~ Cutie count is obviously how many cuties are there in the neighborhood, I usually count it in the subway station, so for example the first 3 stops of L train would receive a full score on this counter!! the 4,5,6 train from midtown to downtown would also got …
